In Horn on Lake Constance, a kitchen was created that combines materials, craftsmanship and technology in a clear form. The penthouse flat offers generous space, plenty of light and an unobstructed view, which called for an equally superior kitchen solution. Ruf Design planned and realised a kitchen that is characterised by a worktop made of solid lava stone, a sink made of the same material and innovative kitchen technology.
Elegance on the lakeshore, Switzerland
The power of the lava stone
The centrepiece of this kitchen is the lava worktop. Each slab is made from solid stone, carefully glazed and inserted with precision. The natural colouring lends the surface a calm depth that is in direct dialogue with the architecture. The design is complemented by a sink, also moulded from solid lava stone. This unity of worktop and sink turns the kitchen into a room that radiates durability and elegance. Lava stone is considered to be particularly hard-wearing, heat-resistant and easy to clean - properties that are just as impressive in everyday use as they are in terms of visual impact.
Invisible cooking with Invisacook
Technology is not visible in this kitchen, but part of the design. The Invisacook cooking system is installed invisibly under the lava surface and enables induction directly under the worktop. This leaves the surface completely free of visible hobs, giving the kitchen a unique calm and clarity. Invisacook represents a new generation of kitchen technology that combines design and function in perfect balance. For Ruf Design, the use of this technology is an example of how modern kitchen systems can also be realised in exclusive projects in Switzerland.
Convenience through Quooker
In addition to the cooking technology, the water system was also carefully selected. A Quooker tap supplies boiling, chilled or sparkling water directly from a tap. This solution replaces several appliances, saves space and offers maximum convenience. The interplay of Quooker and lava stone is as functional as it is aesthetic - the modern technology fades into the background and the clarity of the material takes centre stage.
A room concept that connects
The kitchen is part of a larger interior design project. In addition to the kitchen planning, the wardrobe and cupboard elements were also realised by Ruf Design. With carefully selected veneers, harmonious colouring and precise execution, a design unit was created that extends beyond the cooking area. The combination of kitchen, storage space and living area shows how holistically Ruf Design plans and realises.
Precision craftsmanship
The integration of Invisacook into the solid lava stone was particularly challenging. Every cut-out and every reinforcement had to be planned in such a way that function and durability were guaranteed. The solid sink required precise manufacturing, as did the transitions from stone to fronts and appliances. This interplay of material, craftsmanship and technology shows how much detail work determines the result.
Design kitchen with attitude
This kitchen in Horn is more than just a cooking environment. It is a statement of contemporary living on Lake Constance, where tradition and innovation come together. The natural strength of the lava stone, the invisible technology of Invisacook and the sophistication of the Quooker system come together to create a solution that harmonises everyday life and aesthetics.
Ruf Design - Planning and realisation
The design was realised by Ruf Design. The project exemplifies the company's approach: kitchens are not created by chance, but by combining architecture, materials and utilisation. Horn shows how precise planning, craftsmanship and the choice of special materials can turn a kitchen into a centrepiece of the home.
