A flat was created in Rapperswil that has completely lost its original character following the renovation. The proximity to the lake, the generous light and the expansive view called for a design that combines tranquillity, precision and material strength. Ruf Design took on the entire planning and interior design as well as the construction management. The result is a living space that combines clean lines, natural materials and customised solutions.
New room on the lake,Rapperswil Switzerland
Rethought from the ground up
The remodelling encompassed the entire flat. Walls were opened up, room layouts reorganised and all surfaces carefully defined. The warm texture of the oak floor forms the basis for the new feeling of living. Light-coloured wall surfaces create a sense of spaciousness and draw the eye to the carefully designed furniture. The collaboration with N2H Invest as the client's representative enabled the precise realisation of all design and technical requirements.
The kitchen as a central location
The kitchen was planned and realised by Ruf Design. The centrepiece is the lava worktop, whose depth and shimmer develop a special presence in the light. The calm fronts create a clear surface effect, which is emphasised by the reflective glass splashback and the seamless lines. The kitchen opens up to the living area, turning it into a place for everyday life that remains both functional and prestigious.
Bathroom furniture made of lava
The bathrooms have also been redesigned. The furniture is made of the same lava stone as the kitchen and creates a link between function and atmosphere. The natural strength of the material is clearly emphasised without appearing dominant. Warm stone colours and dark accents create a calm atmosphere that blends harmoniously into the overall look of the flat.
Rooms that talk to each other
The bedroom, office, cloakroom and living areas were defined in a consistent design language. Dark wooden surfaces set subtle accents and act as a calm complement to the light-coloured wall surfaces. Openness and structure alternate harmoniously. The precise lighting directs the eye and emphasises the clear room edges.
Building with attitude
The challenge of this project lay in the interplay of architecture, material and utilisation. Every decision was carefully made and realised with structural precision. The coordination of all trades, the technical details of the kitchen and the customised solutions in the bathrooms demonstrate Ruf Design's expertise as overall manager.
Ruf Design Planning and realisation
This project is representative of the way Ruf Design works. Design begins with the space and ends with the fine details. The combination of lava, wood and clear architecture creates an atmosphere that is both functional and timeless. The flat in Rapperswil shows how material-orientated design and a precise construction process can become a harmonious whole
